ESL Teacher, Seoul, Korea Nov 27th 17 – Present
Private Academy
• This role was for a well-known chain of after school academies (Hagwons) in the city of Seoul, Korea. My classes were largely focused on TOEFL/TOEFL Jr test strategies so I learned a huge amount about the test, question strategies and the expectations that are placed upon students for Korea. I will leave with an enhanced and firm understanding of how to effectively teach key English test taking skills. At first it was challenging to motivate the kids, but as my knowledge and confidence grew, I was able to impart this effectively to the kids.
• Some of my other classes were storybook classes where each lesson focused on a core aspect of the story. I had a lot of fun leading discussions and sharing cultures to explore storybook themes. Building rapport with students is still one of my best skills.

ESL Teacher, Shane English Schools, Tokyo, Japan April 2016 – April 2017
International English Language School
• I taught in three different schools in the city but also did several cover days and special ¡®speaking clinics¡¯ in different areas which enabled me to meet and teach students of wide ranging demographics. I made significant strides in my own personal development, getting significantly fitter, more motivated and even more eager to enhance my knowledge of the culture and language. I picked up elementary level Japanese whilst away and made some incredible friendships both foreign and Japanese. I also explored much of the country as well. It was a fantastic year overall.
• My responsibilities included; delivering a high standard of English education across different ages, levels and ¡®learning styles¡¯ as well as keeping accurate records of all the students¡¯ progress reports and what was taught in the lesson. I conducted tests and taught exam English and dedicated a fair amount of time to the creation of new resources and sharing game and activity ideas with colleagues.
