Today, I’m just finishing my second month of teaching in South Korea and I have Appletree to thank for finding a school that was the right fit for me.  A family-friend introduced me to Inhui and Rachel, my recruiters from Appletree.  Prior to joining them I had originally started with another recruiting agency, where I was just another name on paper, who ultimately gave me a great deal of incorrect information that would have delayed my departure by months.  Having seen two sides of the recruiting spectrum I’m happy to say that I found the right company In Appletree, and I’d like to share my experience with you.  It’s likely that there are other exceptional recruiting agencies out there, but if you’ve found this letter then you need to look no further.

From my first day with Appletree, I was in constant phone contact with my recruiter multiple times per week to discuss potential job offers.  They called to give me additional details on my job offers and they promptly returned my phone calls when I had questions.  On the other hand, in the three months of working with my first recruiting agency I didn’t talk to a single person as our only communication was via email, and I was never advised on the offers that I had.  From my experience, Appletree’s communication exceeded my expectations throughout the entire process.

Most importantly, however, my favorite aspect of working with Appletree was the fact that they were personally invested in finding a place that was a good fit for me.  Inhui and Rachel only sent me offers from schools that fit my interests, where I would have a positive experience based on my lifestyle and activities.  They even notified me of occasions where they had to turn schools away because they weren’t happy with the contact or working conditions.  At the time I had no understanding of what normal working conditions were and I was fortunate to have my recruiters’ expertise to rely on.  When signing a contract to live abroad for a year of your life, you want to be sure you’ve got someone by your side who has your best interests in mind.
